Howard “Shorty” Smith, 88, of Indianapolis passed away on February 23, 2018. He was born on January 12, 1930 in Ragland, Alabama to Robert H. and Liza Mae Smith. He proudly worked for Chrysler, where he retired from in 1981.
He is survived by his wife Carol Jean (Rainwater) Smith, 5 children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter on February 19, 2018.
A funeral will be held on Sunday, February 25 at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road at 7 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4 to 7 pm.

But we will meet again in heaven where you can hold the door open for us all and welcome us with opened arms and give us directions on which way to go so we’ll never get lost on our way. I am so sorry to hear of the death of Shorty. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
